When Technical Excellence Isn’t the Issue
You’re not here because you lack skill. You’re here because alignment, judgment, or communication under stress has become the constraint. The role changed, the stakes got higher, or the people around you shifted, and the way you’ve been leading isn’t working the way it used to.
I coach senior leaders in high-stakes, analytically rigorous environments. Executives, founders, and investors who think precisely, move fast, and need a thinking partner who can keep up.
What We Work On
The specific focus depends on what you’re navigating. But most clients come to me around a version of one of these.
Stepping into a bigger role and needing to lead differently than you did before.
Making decisions under pressure where the information is incomplete and the consequences are real.
Communication that isn’t landing, with a board, a team, a co-founder, or a direct report.
Conflict you’re managing around rather than through.
The growing sense that what got you here won’t get you where you’re going.
Cross-cultural leadership, navigating trust, decision-making, and communication across cultural contexts, for leaders operating in or between multiple markets.
How It Works
We start with a diagnostic conversation to understand your situation and determine fit. If we move forward, we meet weekly or biweekly for 60-minute sessions, typically over six months or longer.
Some engagements include Hogan or Harrison assessments. All of them include direct, candid dialogue, not frameworks, not exercises, not homework.
I work with you on how you think, communicate, and make decisions. Sessions are practical and grounded. You leave with clarity, not just insight.
Results, in their words
Working with Michael was one of the best things I’ve done for my personal and professional development. His approach is grounded in mindfulness, empathy, and self-inquiry. I rely daily on the tools and techniques that Michael taught me.
Michael’s coaching has helped me make decisions that have saved our company many months of time and many millions of dollars. He has many super powers, but the two I’ve been most impressed with are 1) his ability to ask questions that allow people to realize where they are getting in the way of their own decision-making, and 2) his ability to coach people through difficult conversations. He’s a pleasure to work with.
Michael is a rare blend of frank and deeply empathic. He brings emotional intelligence and analytical sharpness to every conversation.
Let’s find out if this is the right fit.
A 30-minute conversation. I’ll ask what you’re navigating. You’ll get a clear sense of whether this is the right kind of help. No proposal until we’ve talked.
